The NASA SUITS (Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students) challenge is an annual competition that challenges university students to research and design information interfaces that will help astronauts during future lunar missions, including the anticipated 2025 Artemis lunar mission.
In 2021, I was a UX designer on the intravehicular (IVA) systems sub-team as part of University of Baltimore’s AstroBees competition team, working on the space shuttle’s Monitoring and Control Center (or MCC). Our goal was to modernize the MCC’s user interface in a way that would improve the user experience for this very unique group of users in a very unique user environment.
